In this issue I celebrate the extraordinary entrepreneur, the one who goes the extra mile, stays up a little later at night to get things done, makes things happen and attracts other successful people.

What does it take to be extraordinary? Just a little something beyond the "ordinary," really. Extraordinary measures might include:

1. Calling 20 extra people in a day (or 30, 40, 50 -- whatever would be "extraordinary" for you). If you're not in a business that requires calling, what could you do twice as much of in one day to really amp your business?

2. Making a personal call to a colleague or someone in your professional network. No shop talk, just a friendly chat.

3. Not talking about the recession. Just keeping on as if it applies to others but not to you.

4. Providing real value for your customers. For example, hosting an open house to share new products and sending your customers home with samples, or setting up a workshop and sharing your expertise for free.

5. Placing yourself on the leading edge. Being up on something, whether it's technology or something related to your industry.
