home business hints

SELL YOUR STRENGTHS.

These are some home business hints that speak to the core of who you are. Amidst all the noise of your business -- the daily actions required, the goal-setting, the networking and prospecting, marketing and management -- it's easy to get lost, and easy to get discouraged when things don't go as expected.

So get back to basics. Remind yourself of what you have to contribute to the relationships you have with your customers. What is it that's so great about you in the first place? Why would they want to work with you? Why would they want to buy from you?

Here's a home business hint: What do your FRIENDS love about you? What do they count on you for?

The answers to those questions may give you an idea of what makes you unique and what you can capitalize on in the marketplace.

Start by making a list of things you're good at. Mine looks something like this:

* Bringing people together
* Making people feel comfortable
* Bringing humor to my interactions
* Empowering people to have whatever they want in their lives
* Giving people my listening

Then take a look at your list and see where you may be able to add more emphasis in your business, in a way that sells your strengths more effectively. Since I'm good at bringing people together and making people feel comfortable, for example, I envision myself doing more interactive presentations and workshops. And I could actually charge money for those events.

Since I'm good at listening, perhaps I could do pre-paid phone consultations. Or, I might choose to AMPLIFY these strengths during my sales consultations. In order to sell our strengths, we really have to own them, step into them, give them power and not shy away from them.

You might even practice saying, "I am really skilled at XYZ. I have a tremendous ability to ABC. I am incredibly attuned to LMNOP." Get comfortable making declarations about your capabilities. That's what will attract people to your products and your business.
