CREATE INFINITE CONNECTIONS.
As you build your smart home business, treat every person you meet as a potential customer, client or referral opportunity. And if you can’t quite see them as any of those things, at least view them as a learning opportunity – or someone you can help in some way. My FREE e-zine offers more tools, tips, technologies and tactics for unstoppable entrepreneurs!I found that within a year of solid networking, I really started to feel like I knew a lot of people and a lot of people knew me. Not only that but I started meeting more people who knew the same people, which means my credibility and reputation (and theirs) went up. Building a home-based business community often means you need to build connections outside of the home. Consider building or joining a business network to connect with people outside of your business and grow from those connections. That’s smart home business in the offline world. Of course online connections are even easier to forge with sites such as LinkedIn, Plaxo, Facebook and MySpace. Be thorough in both realms. Offline, make sure you follow up with absolutely everyone you meet. Also follow up on information, events and leads that other people suggest so you’re constantly expanding your network and your knowledge. Online, spend time filling out your profile on LinkedIn and the other networking sites so people can find you and easily refer you to others. Through "six degrees of separation" you may find good connections and leads for your business. Be known as one who makes connections for other people as well. Teach others what you know about being connected, make introductions, and foster partnerships between people. It is, after all, “who you know." And who knows you.
